Terms of Use

Welcome to Focal Click (“Focal Click”, “we”, “us”). Focal Click is a service for storing photographs, reading Fujifilm film-simulation recipes from their metadata, and sharing photos and recipes with a community. By creating an account or using focal.click, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

1. Your account

You must be at least 16 years old to use Focal Click. You are responsible for your account and everything done with it — keep your sign-in methods (password, passkeys, linked Google account) secure. Usernames are first-come, first-served; we may reclaim usernames that impersonate others or squat on trademarks. During our launch phase, account creation may be limited to invited waitlist members.

2. Your content and your rights

You keep all rights to the photographs you upload. So that the service can function, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, resize, transcode, and — only for content you choose to share — display and distribute your photos within the service, including on recipe pages, feeds, public profiles, and embeds of recipes on third-party sites. This license ends when you delete the content, except for copies already cached or embedded elsewhere for a reasonable transition period. Everything you upload is private by default; nothing becomes public unless you share it.

3. Recipes, names, and credit

Film-simulation recipes are camera settings read from photo files. Settings themselves are facts and are not owned by anyone. Recipe names on Focal Click are chosen collectively — every public save is a vote — and the credit “first shared here by” records who first brought a recipe to this community, not who invented it. When you save a recipe, you may (and are encouraged to) credit its original creator with a source link. Community-chosen names and aggregate recipe data are not your exclusive property and remain available to the community even if you delete your account.

4. Content policy

Two different rules apply, depending on where content lives:

• Your private libraryis yours. We don't review it. Anything lawful may be stored there, including artistic nudity — it stays visible only to you.
• Community-shared content (public photos, profiles, recipe pages, feeds, embeds) must be suitable for a general audience. Sexually explicit imagery, nudity intended to be sexual, and graphic violence must not be shared publicly — no exceptions, including artistic contexts. If in doubt, keep it private.

The following are prohibited everywhere on the service, private or public:

• Content that is illegal where you live or where we operate;
• Any sexual content involving minors, without exception — reported to authorities;
• Content that harasses, threatens, doxxes, or incites violence against anyone;
• Photographs you don't have the right to upload;
• Malware, spam, deceptive links, or attempts to game community naming and credit;
• Scraping or bulk-downloading other members' photos.

Every public photo has a Report option. Reports are reviewed by our team; we may remove content, return it to private, or suspend accounts at our discretion. We aim to review reports promptly and act fastest on the most serious categories.

5. Copyright complaints

If you believe content on Focal Click infringes your copyright, report it on the photo itself (reason: copyright) or email us with the photo link, proof of your rights, and your contact details. We remove infringing content and terminate repeat infringers.

6. Storage and fair use

Free accounts include a private-storage allowance (currently 10 GB; photos shared with the community don't count toward it). We may change allowances with notice. Don't use Focal Click as generic file storage — it's for photographs.

7. Termination

You can stop using Focal Click anytime and delete your photos from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. On termination we delete your private content within a reasonable period; community contributions (recipe name votes, aggregate counts) may persist in anonymized form.

8. Disclaimers and liability

Focal Click is provided “as is”. Keep your own backups — while we take storage seriously (originals and RAW files are stored redundantly), we are not liable for data loss, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the last 12 months. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages to the extent the law allows.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
