Pro Neg. Std looks

Pro Neg. Std is the gentlest color simulation Fujifilm makes: low saturation and a soft tone curve derived from studio portrait negative film, designed for light the photographer already controls. Where Pro Neg. Hi adds spine, Std deliberately doesn't — highlights roll off long, shadows stay open, and color does nothing unexpected.

That makes it the closest thing to a neutral negative scan the camera will give you in JPEG. Straight out of camera it can read as flat, which is precisely its value: in controlled light it renders skin with unmatched subtlety, and as a recipe base it leaves the most room for tone and white balance moves before anything clips or cakes.
